Walter F. Williams, MBA, CFP®, CEPA
Private Wealth Advisor — Tampa, FL
Walter (“Walt”) Williams helps individuals, families, and business owners make confident financial decisions through coordinated retirement, estate, charitable, and risk-management strategies. At the heart of his work is a simple purpose: helping people preserve what matters most so they can move forward with clarity, confidence, and independence. Drawing on his own experience with family businesses, Walt has a particular heart for owners planning transitions, knowing that every owner eventually exits—and not always on their own terms.
Walt traces his service mindset to one of his first business experiences: running a paper route at age 12 or 13. His father, who worked with a large bakery, brought home plastic bread wrappers that Walt used to cover each newspaper before placing them on the customer’s front porch. Looking back, Walt sees that small routine as an early lesson in responsibility, preparation, and caring about the little things that make a difference to someone else. The same instinct still shapes how he serves clients today: anticipate risks, safeguard the plan, and deliver with intention.
Analytical and methodical by nature, Walt earned a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology before beginning his career in the Advanced Vehicle Engineering Office of Ford Motor Company. That technical foundation strengthened his discipline, judgment, and problem-solving skills, while his MBA with a concentration in Finance from the University of Florida broadened his perspective on ownership, strategy, and financial independence.
Walt later launched an automotive service center that grew from one location into a nine-store operation before being sold to a national chain. The experience was both rewarding and demanding, giving him firsthand understanding of the weight business owners carry as they provide for their families, care for employees, support charitable causes, manage risk, and plan for transition. It also deepened his appreciation for the confidence that comes from thoughtful planning and valued guidance.
Consistent with his engineering mindset, Walt believes lasting financial independence rests on a trilogy of physical, mental, and financial health. For the families he serves, the financial leg begins with a thoughtful blueprint tailored to their goals, circumstances, and concerns. His planning approach emphasizes financial independence, estate, gift, and charitable planning, and comprehensive risk management. Walt is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional, a Certified Exit Planning Advisor, holds FINRA securities registrations including Series 7, 63, and 24, and is licensed in life and disability insurance in multiple states.
Personally, Walt is devoted to and proud of his family. He has especially enjoyed sharing his love of motorsports with his son, including time tracking their Miata through the Sports Car Club of America. That experience reinforced a lesson Walt carries into his work: risk and reward must be balanced, and to win, one must first finish. Whether in racing, trail biking, business ownership, or financial planning, Walt believes preparation, endurance, and disciplined execution help people stay the course and pursue what matters most.
