Building a Career in Financial Planning: Nate Sabattini's Journey

August 05, 2026

Nate Sabattini's interest in financial planning grew from a natural affinity for math, a saving-focused upbringing, and a fascination with how financial decisions shape people's futures. He earned dual degrees in Finance and Financial Planning at the University of North Florida—chosen for its strong, CFP® certification-focused programs—after completing an associate's degree through dual enrollment in high school. That education gave him both technical grounding and hands-on experience building financial plans, creating a sound foundation before he entered the industry. His coursework allowed him to analyze investment strategies and see how different areas of financial planning work together to support a client's broader goals.

Nate was drawn to Aegis because of the opportunity to learn from experienced, client-first advisors and a team invested in his growth potential. Starting as an intern, he gained exposure to nearly every facet of the business—operations, technology, investments, and advisor support. In his view, effectiveness there comes from curiosity, adaptability, strong communication, attention to detail, and a dependable, team-oriented mindset.

Looking back, Nate would have sought industry experience and networking even earlier, knowing classroom learning can't replace seeing planning in practice. He looks forward to continuing to expand his knowledge and taking on new challenges as the financial services industry evolves. Whether his future is in operational leadership or as an advisor, he looks forward to a career in helping safeguard and preserve what families have worked so hard to build. Nate advises students to seize every chance to learn, step outside their comfort zone, and build both strong fundamentals and the communication skills to explain complex topics clearly.
